Having been studying world war one and the effects on Britain, Sherwood History department decided to reward some hardworking Year 9 students. They were invited to Greenwich Picture House to watch the film Suffragette. The group of Year 9 pupils and staff had the whole cinema to themselves and found the film both entertaining and extremely informative. The children left the picture house inspired by the work of the suffragettes.
This is what Poppy had to say:
“I think the film was very interesting as we got to watch how the suffragettes suffered and how they worked to empower women giving them more freedom. I didn’t know that in the past women weren’t allowed to vote in elections. Thank you Mr Waters and Mrs Pereira for taking me on this trip it was a real experience.”
