The Friends of SCWA is newly formed. In fact we are very proud to be the first parent/carer fundraising committee in the history of the Academy!
Our aim is to play an important role in Academy life by raising funds to improve equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and facilitate their extra-curricular projects. This will only come with the support of students’ families at our events.
But the role of the Friends is about much more than just fundraising: we want to assist in providing closer links between your home and the Academy; bringing students, staff, parents and our friends together socially in support of the Academy.
The Friends of SCWA operates through a committee and we want to ensure that each School is represented and has a voice on how funds are spent, including, of course, the students! We will hold meetings about twice a term but appreciate that it can be difficult to get to evening meetings so we would like to encourage people to join even though we might not see them that often!
Become a Virtual Member of the Friends – you can join us from the safety of your own armchair and share your views with us!
We have received a lot of support and encouragement from the Academy and hope to enjoy the same from Parents/Carers. Without everyone’s support, it will not be possible to succeed in our fundraising endeavours. Joining a committee might seem daunting, but it is a great way to get to know how the Academy works and meet fellow parents and teachers at the same time. We really do appreciate any help, however big or small that help might be. We plan to run a number of events throughout the year to raise funds. Keep an eye on the Academy newsletters or follow the Academy Facebook and Twitter pages to see what’s coming up.
You can contact us via email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Annual General Meeting will be held during the Autumn. This will be an opportunity for anyone to come along and hear in more detail about the events we have run and the funds we have raised and more importantly, how your money has been spent. It is also the occasion when we elect Committee Officers.
