Our aim is to ensure your journey from primary to secondary school is as smooth and worry-free as possible. We fully understand that it can be a stressful time for you and your parent/carers and we will do everything possible to address and minimise any concerns you may have. We have a very comprehensive transition programme lead by Ms Lloyd and you will be meeting her in the weeks ahead.
We are guided by our Values, Vision & Mission in everything we do and these will become very familiar to you. Please be reassured that your success and happiness is our number one priority, we know that teenage years can be challenging at times but by working together with you and your parents/carers we can guide, support, instill self-belief and resilience, to help you realise your dreams. We very much look forward to meeting you all.
15th March: It is essential you meet the Local Authority deadline to confirm your offer of a place with us. We have a very long waiting list so please do let the Local Authority know if you have accepted a place at an alternative secondary school.
Saturday 22nd April: Cognitive Ability Test. To help us assess your ability level and determine which of our Small Schools will best support your learning, we will use three sources of information (1) The Band that you have been placed in; (2) your Year 6 teacher assessment and (3) results of our Cognitive Ability test. This requires no advance preparation on your part. Please click here to view letter with important information regarding this test.
Monday 26th/Wednesday 28th June: 5pm – 6.45pm Welcome and Information Evenings for Parents/Carers and Students You will receive an invitation to attend one of these evenings where you will meet your Head of School and some of the subject and pastoral staff who will be teaching and supporting you. You will be given an Information Booklet which we hope will answer many questions you may have about Academy life.
Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th July: 9am – 2.30pm Welcome Days for all new students. To help you settle into your new school, you will spend two days with us getting to know your teachers, making new friends and familiarising yourself with your new school environment.
Thursday 13th and Friday 14th July: 9am – 2.30pm Nurture Days. Some of you may benefit from additional time in your new school to support your journey from primary to secondary. We will contact your parents/carers individually to discuss this additional option.
Monday 4th September 2017: Your First Day! The Academy day begins at 08.10 but you need to arrive by 8am to ensure you are punctual. Breakfast is served in our restaurant from 7.30am. Staff and Student Leaders will take you to your tutor room and you will be given your Student Planner and timetable and meet your lovely tutors.
