Mr Barnett is leaving Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy (SCWA) after three years as Principal. He has led the academy through a very challenging period of global pandemic and brought about significant improvements so that SCWA is once again one of the most heavily oversubscribed secondaries in Greenwich. We are very grateful indeed for all of Mr Barnett’s hard work and wish him and his family well for the future.
With effect from today, Ms Subreena Kazmi has taken over as Principal. Ms Kazmi is a very experienced school leader having held various senior positions in schools in South East London, including recently as Principal in another Greenwich school. She joins SCWA at a very exciting time as we emerge from the pandemic and introduce even more ambitious plans for the future. Commenting on her appointment, Ms S Kazmi said:
“I feel extremely privileged and excited to be the new Principal for Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy. I am a strong believer in the power of outstanding education to transform lives and am deeply committed to the personal development of our young people. I very much look forward to meeting and working with you to ensure the very best for each and every one of our pupils.”
Also appointed to the senior team is Mr Steve Walker who joins SCWA as one of our four Heads of School. Mr Walker is currently a senior leader working for the Harris Federation and joins us officially at the start of next academic year. Mr Walker takes over leadership of Sherwood School from Mr Watson who has been promoted to an exciting new role as Principal in another Leigh Academies Trust academy in Dartford from September. We wish Mr Watson well as he embarks upon this next challenge. The full senior leadership team from September is detailed underneath for your convenience.
- Principal Ms Subreena Kazmi
- Head of Ashdown School Mr David Boothe
- Head of Sherwood School Mr Steve Walker
- Head of Delamere School Ms Kat Long
- Head of Arden School Mr Fazal Rahman
I’m sure you will join me in thanking Mr Barnett for his service to SCWA and will want to wish Ms Kazmi well on her appointment as she works with the team to ensure a strong finish to this academic year and an excellent start to the next one. I know she is planning to write to you herself very soon to set out some of her plans for the year ahead.
Yours faithfully,
Simon Beamish
Chief Executive
