Introduction of KS3 Reading Lessons

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, due to unforeseen circumstances, two of the music teachers at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy have now left their position of employment due to personal family circumstances. I am writing to let you know that we are currently in the process of securing replacement teachers of music. Recruiting high quality teachers within the education sector midway through the academic year is challenging, however, we are working hard to do this and hope to have a solution very soon.

High quality education is a priority for us at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy because a child’s success in school is directly related to the quality of education they experience. With this in mind, thus far, we have not been satisfied with the interim music teachers we have had to put in place to cover music lessons. Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to rectify this situation as soon as we can and we appreciate your understanding and patience during this period.

In the interim, rather than experience music lessons that are below our expectations, we are pleased to offer a series of reading lessons which will be led by experienced practitioners. There is a national focus on the importance of reading as it is a fundamental life skill which is essential to enable pupils to participate fully in society and the workplace when they leave school. Through investment in the improvement of reading, pupils will further develop the background knowledge and vocabulary required to improve their comprehension and ability to access the entire secondary curriculum as well as give them a better chance of reaching their potential in school assessments.

We appreciate that many pupils have a strong passion for music and may be disappointed by this temporary measure. Ms French, our Head of Music, will be offering an opportunity after school for any pupils who wish to continue studying the music curriculum until we have successfully recruited a new music teacher. These sessions will take place on Wednesdays, 2pm-3pm. Should you wish for your child to attend these sessions, please email Ms French directly via the following email address: sarah.french@scwa.org.uk.

Should you have any further queries regarding this matter, please contact Mr S Smith, via the following email address: stephen.smith@scwa.org.uk.

Kind regards

Mr S Smith
