Sport Personality of the Year

SCWA Sports Personality of the Year Award

We celebrate students’ sporting achievement in our annual Sports Personality of the Year Awards evening. Our 2012 team are extremely proud of the work we do with the students in PE and the event is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful and inspiring talent that they demonstrate through sport.

Guest speakers are invited to present awards and talk about their personal careers and opportunities in sport. Past speakers have included Jamie Day, Gillingham Utd FC first team coach and ex Arsenal professional player; Danny Murphy, ex professional player for QPR, Motherwell, and U21 Republic of Ireland International team; and Brian Whittaker, Sidcup Rugby Club coach.

The awarding of Half and Full Colours is a tradition used in Sport since 1829.  Half colours are given to students who consistently represent and play sport for the whole of KS3. Full Colours are given to students who have continued with their sport at KS4. Honours are given to students in Year 13 who show at dedication and commitment to their sport at KS5.

In the weeks leading up to the event, nominees for the coveted ‘SCWA Sports Personality of the Year’ Award are selected and students cast their votes to determine who will be their own school ‘Sports Personality.

Congratulations to all students who attended our 2019 Sports Personality of the Year evening and collected their awards for outstanding participation in Physical Education and Sport.
