Work Experience Programme Updates for Year 10 and 12

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is pleased to announce an upcoming information evening regarding our work experience programme. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, 27 February 2024. It will provide essential details and guidance for both Year 10 and Year 12 students and their parents. The work experience for these year groups is set to take place from Monday, 8 July to Friday, 19 July 2024. This programme offers a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical insights and experience in the working world, enhancing their understanding of various career paths. We encourage all relevant students and their parents to attend the information evening to learn more about this exciting opportunity.

Year 13 Students to Participate in Sexual Health Workshop

On Monday, 29 January 2024, Year 13 students at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy will engage in an informative sexual health workshop, conducted by Young Greenwich Youth Services. This session is designed to equip students with essential knowledge, advice, and support on contraception and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The workshop aims to educate students about various contraceptive options, their functionalities, and individual suitability. Additionally, it will cover comprehensive information on different types of STIs, their symptoms, and preventive measures. This initiative is a crucial step in empowering our students with the necessary understanding to make informed decisions about their sexual health.

SCWA Triumphs in LAT 5 Aside Competitions

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy has maintained its impressive performance in the recent LAT 5 Aside competitions. In the Year 9/10 Girls Competition, SCWA’s team excelled, topping Group B with 15 points and clinching the final with a decisive 5-0 victory over Leigh Academy. Meanwhile, the Year 9/10 Boys team also led Group B, amassing 21 points. They put up a strong fight in the final against Hundred of Hoo, drawing 3-3 but narrowly missed the top spot, finishing second after a 4-2 loss in penalties.

This achievement marks a total of three victories for SCWA in the last two weeks alone. Ms Allen, Director of 2012 (PE), commented, “Our students have shown exceptional skill and teamwork in the LAT 5 Aside competitions. Their dedication and sportsmanship have been key to our success. These victories reflect the hard work and commitment of our teams, and we’re incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”

ASD Coffee Morning: A Heartening Gathering at SCWA

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy recently hosted a series of ASD Coffee Mornings, for parents of children with ASD. This event, held over the last two weeks, facilitated open discussions on ASD-related challenges and the support options available.

Ms Dervishi, SENDCo at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, commented, “We are truly thankful to Christo Kachelhoffer, Nicola Hill, and Lisa Sheaf for their contributions and expertise. Their participation played a key role in enhancing our school’s understanding of neurodiversity. We also want to acknowledge our parents for engaging actively and sharing their experiences and practices. This event has not only built a stronger community but has also improved our knowledge and support strategies for ASD.”

Year 11 & Year 13 Mock Examination Reports Now Available on MCAS

We are pleased to inform parents and carers that the comprehensive reports for Year 11 and Year 13, following our successful mock examination results evenings, have been released. These reports are accessible through the My Child at School (MCAS) platform. Please feel free to log in to MCAS to view and download your child’s reports, which provide insights into their academic progress, attendance, punctuality and more. 

Year 11 Parents’ Evening a Success at SCWA

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is pleased to report the success of the Year 11 Parents’ Evening held on 25 January 2024. The event, attended by nearly 80% of parents, focused on discussing the academic progress of Year 11 students.

Parents engaged in detailed discussions with teachers, reviewed assessment reports, and received guidance to support their children’s education. Additionally, students were provided with question-level analysis documents for mock exams, aiding in targeted revision for the upcoming GCSEs.

Assistant Principal Amandeep Kalote expressed her gratitude, saying, “I extend my sincere thanks to all the parents for their active participation. Your involvement in your children’s academic journey is invaluable, particularly as we approach the crucial summer exam period.”

Reminder: Year 13 Parents’ Evening at SCWA

Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy is set to host the Year 13 Parents’ Evening on Thursday, 1 February 2024, from 16:00 to 19:00. This face-to-face event provides a platform for parents and carers to discuss their child’s academic progress with teachers. The booking system for appointments is now live as of 12:00 pm on Friday, 19 January 2024, and will remain available until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, 31 January 2024. These discussions are a crucial part of the academy’s approach to individualised student development, focusing on achievements and areas for growth.

Parents and carers are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred times. Appointments can be made by visiting the academy’s designated booking site.
