Dear SCWA Community,
As we conclude Module Two, I wish to commend our students for their exemplary scholarship. Their dedication during the mock examinations and the warm-up sessions is a testament to our collective commitment to academic excellence.
The festive season brings with it, a blend of joy and challenge. It is heartening to see our community embodying the spirit of fellowship through various initiatives. The SCWA’s engagement in the ‘Save the Children’ Christmas Jumper Day, where we raised £793, illustrates our shared values in action.
Leadership and the performing arts have shone brightly at SCWA this term. Our cadets represented us with honour at The Stationers’ Civic Dinner, demonstrating the discipline and values instilled through the CCF programme. In a similar vein, the SCWA choir’s dazzling performance at the Court Christmas Lunch at Stationers’ Hall spotlighted the talent within our academy. Our young vocalists, many of whom are new to our school, brought the audience to their feet in a first-ever standing ovation for an SCWA performance at such a prestigious venue. The Christmas Dance Production further exhibited our students’ leadership skills, with a night of accomplished performances that displayed their dedication and professional approach. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our students for their efforts; you are a constant source of pride to our community.
Please note that our latest news page updates will pause during the holiday period, with the next updates to be sent before the start of Module Three on Tuesday, 2 January 2024.
Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Joseph Sparks | Principal, Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy

Their repertoire included a mix of traditional Christmas carols such as “Silent Night” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”, along with contemporary festive songs like Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You”. Mr Sparks, Principal, who attended the event, expressed his pride in the choir’s performance: “The choir made us so proud; many of our choir members are in Year 7 and have only been with us for ten weeks. Hearing them perform at Stationers’ Hall was an absolute delight.”

This event marks a significant achievement for the SCWA choir, reflecting the exceptional talent and hard work of its young members.
SCWA Cadets Represent Academy at The Stationers’ Civic Dinner
On Friday, 1 December 2023, four pupils from Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy, members of the academy’s Combined Cadet Force (CCF), had the honour of representing the academy at The Stationers’ Civic Dinner. They were accompanied by Mr Sandhu, Teacher of Business Studies, who reflected on their participation: “The cadets represented the academy and the CCF exceptionally, showcasing the values and discipline instilled in them through the CCF program.”
The Civic Dinner is a significant annual event for The Stationers’ Company, celebrating its connections with the Mayoralty and the City of London. The event welcomed Civic dignitaries and their spouses, including the Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of London and the Sheriffs. The participation of SCWA’s cadets in this event highlights the academy’s active engagement with the community and the importance placed on providing students with opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership and civic responsibility.

SCWA Year 10 Students Debut Sci-Fi Series Intro ‘Barely Human’
Year 10 Creative Media students at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy have successfully completed their first project, ‘Barely Human’, an introduction to a new Sci-Fi series. The task was to depict ‘robots in society’ using Adobe Firefly for imagery and Adobe Premiere Pro for assembly, with sounds from royalty-free music sources.
Despite initial technological challenges, the students displayed creativity and resilience. Mr D Milliken, Creative Media teacher, praised their efforts: “It’s been inspiring to see our students produce ‘Barely Human’. They’ve shown creativity in using Adobe Firefly and persistence through technical challenges. This project marks a promising start in their media production journey.”
