Dear Parents/Carers
YEAR 12 MOCK EXAMINATIONS
Following the February Mock Examination series, a forensic analysis of student data has enabled Senior and Curriculum leaders to plan and structure lessons to support students in preparing for their Summer Mock exams.
Year 12 Summer mocks will begin on Monday 13 June and conclude on Thursday 23 June 2022. This opportunity will provide students and their teachers with accurate information to assess how well they have applied themselves to the first year of their course. It also indicates whether they can successfully progress into year 13, how well they are likely to perform in year 13 and provides initial guidance to staff and your child on their post18 options.
The timetable will collapse during the mock period for all students. Students will not be expected on site unless they wish to use the library, organise group study sessions in the Independent Learning Centre for revision or have been invited by their teacher to attend an intervention session. Please see the timetable.
There are a few things I would like to bring to your attention as you consider the timetable. All exams will take place in a classroom and under exam conditions. There are both morning and afternoon assessments; due to the duration of some assessments and in an attempt to work within the timings of the Academy day, afternoon assessments will begin at 14:00 and may exceed 15:00 as indicated on the timetable. Commitment to attending these exams must prioritise any personal commitments, such as work shifts. Unauthorised absences to the exam(s) will affect their overall grade and your son/daughter’s progression into year 13. Only in exceptional circumstances will we consider rescheduling the time/date of a student’s exam; these requests must be discussed with Mr Rahman in advance.
All students are required to line up silently outside the exam room and bring the appropriate equipment, in a clear pencil case, for all exams:
- Black pen, HB pencil, ruler, rubber, sharpener, highlighter
- Calculator – no lid
- Maths set (protractor, compass etc)
- Students may also bring a bottle of water, in a clear bottle with no label
All students must follow the JCQ exam regulations. These regulations include the following:
- Mobile phones, iPad, iPod/MP3 player, wristwatch or other data or communication devices are strictly prohibited in any exam room.
- No communication once the exam room has been entered.
- Students are required to stay in the exam room for the entire examination until dismissed by a member of staff.
- If assistance is required students must raise their hand and wait for a member of staff to assist.
All of the above along with further logistical details will be relayed to students prior to the exams. I thank you in advance for your continued support and wish all students the best of luck in preparing for their summer mocks and throughout the mock examination period.
Yours sincerely
Ms L Rennalls
Assistant Principal
