Year 12 PSHE/Careers Day – 17th June 2022

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of our continued commitment to personal development and careers education, the Year 12 team will be hosting a compulsory PSHE/Careers day on Monday 27 June 2022. All year 12 students will be expected to arrive at school promptly for registration at 8.30am. Students will then be involved in a variety of activities linked to our personal development programme which includes Health and Wellbeing and Living in the Wider World. Following this morning session, students will be attending the ApprenticeFutures apprenticeship event held at Guildhall, London.  This is an important event for all students to attend to widen their knowledge and understanding of the highly sought over apprenticeship route and the wide range of opportunities available in a huge variety of sectors.  Students will be encouraged to network at this event via workshops such as ‘speed networking with City Professionals’ and to begin to form plans for the future.  Students should be aware that whilst they may be considering university for their Post 18 pathway, there has been a significant increase in the number of graduates who go on to study apprenticeships.  This event will cater for the longevity of our students’ career pathways, as well as the immediate Post 18 decision making process.

We will be travelling to the ApprenticeFutures event by train (full details below).  We have applied for free travel.  In the event this has not been granted, students will be required to pay for their own travel, with the exception of students in receipt of the bursary.  We will update students on the status of this near the time via the Year 12 google classroom. Please complete the consent form to confirm permissions. Students will be required to bring a packed lunch to school with them as there will not be an opportunity to stop for lunch. Students will be dismissed from Falconwood Station at approximately 2pm.
