Year 13 Examinations – 23rd May 2022

Dear Year 13 Students

YEAR 13 EXAMINATIONS

Further to the assembly held on 17 May, please find below a summary of important information regarding examinations, results day, UCAS and apprenticeships. Please read the information carefully.

A Level Qualifications

For A Level subjects, please make sure you pick up your exam timetable from your tutor. You must check your entries for errors and see me immediately if you think something is incorrect. Please also check the location of the exam (some exams will be in the drama studio, Symphony and William Morris) and if you have any exam clashes you will have a supervised lunch (students should bring a lunch in with them on these occasions). See me if you have any queries. Please also note that parents/carers are able to access information about the exams timetable via MCAS.

We have produced a bespoke timetable which details forthcoming examinations and additional revision master classes running up to exams sessions. Please pick up a copy of this timetable from Arden reception and if you are still unsure, speak to your teachers so that you are fully aware of where you should be and when. Please ensure you attend the revision master classes – we believe that these are vital to your success. You will all enjoy a long summer to make up for the extra time spent in school!

The A level exam period starts on Monday 23 May. Please click here for details of the official exam etiquette documentation, please ensure you read this document carefully in order to be fully prepared and organised.

A Level results day is Thursday 18 August. Year 13 students should collect their results from the Crown Building from 8am -11am.

BTEC Qualifications

For BTEC subjects you will be completing exams as well as finishing off coursework requirements. Please follow the exam guidelines outlined in the above link as the same protocols will be in place.

Please ensure that you follow the teacher’s guidelines when it comes to coursework deadlines. Extensions are rarely given due to marking and moderating demands. Students should attend all timetabled lessons until they have submitted all units.

Once all work has been marked and verified, your grades will be entered into the BTEC system. Remember a Distinction* is the same as an A* at A level, a Distinction is the same as an A at A level, a Merit is the same as a C grade at A level and a Pass is the same as an E grade at A level.

UCAS.

If you have received offers from all the universities that you have applied to, it is now important that you make decisions regarding your firm and insurance offers. Please ensure that, as instructed, this is completed online (the general deadline for making these decisions, unless otherwise informed by UCAS, is the 9th June).  Students should also be completing the application process for student finance.  Delaying doing this could mean funds are not in place for September.

Your firm university (and insurance where necessary) will get your A level and BTEC grades the day before you see them. They will process the information and you will receive an email very early on Thursday 18th August to tell you if you have been successful or unsuccessful. UCAS will provide you with all the information you need for clearing.  If you require support with this process, please come into school as early as possible (8.00am) so that Ms Zahoor and I can help you with the clearing process.

Apprenticeships and Employment Opportunities

If you are considering either an apprenticeship or employment and have yet to secure a position please make sure you are in touch with Ms Taylor (anna.taylor-cardomy@scwa.org.uk). Ms Taylor will check your CV, send you opportunities as and when they come. Ms Taylor can also tell you about other career fairs that are taking place where you can meet and greet apprenticeship providers and get to know exactly what opportunities are out there.

May I wish you every success with your exams and hope you achieve the outcome you deserve.

Regards

Miss Green
