Learning Support

“Our SEND learners are able to thrive within the learning environment, that they feel well supported by reasonable adjustments by all subject areas, to support their special educational needs.  Most importantly, that students are able to contribute to their wider community when they leave Stationers Crown Woods Academy as happy and productive young adults who have fulfilled their academic potential.”

Our learning support department has been developed with the intention of ensuring that all students can achieve in a mainstream school and experience success academically whilst being socially, emotionally and mentally supported.

The emphasis at the Academy for all learners is Quality First Teaching in the classroom.  Teachers are provided with support, guidance and training in order to ensure they can meet the needs of all students in the classroom.

There are different layers and types of support available to our students in particular those students that fall into the following 3 categories; those with an Educational, Health and Care Plan, those with an additional learning need and those requiring emotional or behavioural support.

The Inclusions team consists of but is not exclusive too; a team of Learning Support Assistants, specialist SEND teaching staff, learning mentors, behaviour support specialists, educational psychologists and counsellors.  The Academy also has access to provisions and specialists from the Local Authority, multi agency team and The Leigh Academy Trust.
